Chillaxing in the D'Entrecasteaux Channel

Flowers on board is a sure sign of too long on the dock!
From the Sandows garden as a farewell treat.

Six weeks of doddling around 'protected' waters beckoned. Based on advice from many willing and experienced sailors at the RYCT, we chose to open our account in Barnes Bay - Alexander's Bay specifically. We estimate that we could easily spend 2 weeks just in Barnes Bay and its various coves. We intend to get to the 'Duck Pond' but that will have to wait until a bit later.

Not alone.

2nd night, Quarantine Bay.
By nightfall there were 30 yachts

A pair of swans raced across the bay in the hope of offerings from our stern.
No matter how much they postured and hooted, we resisted them.
Perhaps they'd noticed our black swan on our WA State Burgee flag?

How are we filling our days? After thunderstorms and rain, the dingy needed a bit of mopping up just for starters.

Hey! I'm sure that sponge is specifically labelled 'INSIDE'.... my naughty Bloke!

It wasn't long before we started to see familiar boats in the bay and a conversation with someone the Bloke recognised as being as fastidious with his boat as he is with Zofia, led to an offer of a newspaper from Kettering which would be dropped off at afternoon tea time. This led to a raft up with Garry and Milena from Pierrette.

'Beachie' SMS'd to let us know he was on the car ferry for his tour of Bruny Island. He was just over the headland so we collected him to join us for 5ers.

Gary although Tasmanian, seemed pleased about the South Australian Coopers beer.

Zofia at anchor in Apollo Bay.
Thanks for the image Brendan!

Dinner with crews of 'Pierrette' (Garry + Milena) and 'Comfortably Numb' (Brendan +Phillipa).

Sunset at Little Fancy

Arch Rock

Follow-the-leader (Pierrette) to Verona Beach for a lunch stop.

Garry has been a very enthusiastic tour guide and not content to just point us in the right direction he's led us there. The Bloke hasn't minded one bit as it's taken the pressure of planning off his shoulders to some degree; as we already know, local knowledge is golden. Chillaxing, at it's best!
