Our involvement in rescuing our 'Irish Mermaid' and partner after their jetski accident in November had a happy ending. Despite 3 broken ribs and a night in hospital, recovery was sufficient to allow them both to return to Ireland for Christmas. What troupers!
The Bloke getting the jetski as far away from our boat as possible. He'd already cleaned off all the scuffs from the Water Police and Coast Guard vessels that had been rafted up during the medivac. He didn't give the Coast Guard a second chance for any more of that gelcoat nudging malarkey .
We minded the jetski for 36 hours until Derek could arrange a lift back across Moreton Bay with the Redcliffe Coast Guard to collect it. It obviously wasn't the first time they'd had to transport a jetski. They winched it aboard with purpose built fittings!
We were also happy recipients of a lovely card and a couple of bottles of wine. The real reward though was knowing that their happy Christmas was at all possible!
