Arrival at Middle Island

A bit later than expected.

Will tell you about this hop later but we have arrived at Middle Island. The anchor is down. We are giving it a good looking at. The anchor watch program is on. Cat antics have begun. The cuppa, now brewing, will be welcome.

There is another vessel here. Some sort of pleasure craft of 67' with 2 level. A red helicopter has overflown us. We think it's related to the boat which has a giant wind sock flying from the bridge deck antenna. Oh the serenity - whop, whop, whop!

The aspect to Cape Arid is impressive.

Oh and did I mention.....WE HAVE INTERNET! That will be good for obtaining more mis-information from lying-bastards.com (this is our nickname for any weather prediction service you care to throw up). We have a 9dB gain aerial mounted on our targa/ davits and were the only ones with internet access.

  1. Well done Zofia. I am sure I did not have internet there two years ago. I presume you are anchored at the top of the island. Go over to Cape Arid for a swim if you can.
    Cheers

  2. Hi George we will give the swim idea a miss the thought of being gobbled by a great big fish has no appeal.

  3. Glad to hear that you have arrived safely at Middle. We have been thinking about you toughing out the Esperance "breeze" at the Duke!! It is a fantastic bit of coastline isn't it? Enjoy the island. We hope to be there on the March long weekend for a few days. Hope that other boat has moved on by then! The helicopter you talked about just flew over our place. We are very envious of you all.

  4. Hi Mark, yes the views have been fantastic, however, the constant and strong Easterlies have taken their toll on our mood. We are all desperate to get away from these strong winds. Yesterday we had to motor into Middle Island in 30+ Knots on the nose with horrible short chop. No fun I can tell you. Now we plan to leave tomorrow, however, we do this with reduced confidence in the weather forecasts. Thank yiu for tour interest warmest regards "Zofia"

  7. Isn't it strange how people with money buy toys [big boats and whop whops] that enable them to escape the maddening crowds, only then to inflict upon others exactly what they're looking to escape from themselves!!

  11. The "bog laps" must have been where you were dumping your red 'fruit' before you crossed the SA border!! You've picked up speed again and should be in Streaky before long.
