Visual Feast in Maryborough

The Bloke sometimes needs an incentive to participate in some of my inspections of the local scene. Promise of a sausage roll sampling usually does the trick and the weekly Maryborough Markets held potential to deliver the Holy Grail - the BEST sausage roll yet!

Alas, not a sausage roll in sight but we did go home with some fabulous fresh ripe pineapples and some artisan sour dough rye bread. The Bloke would have to be happy with that or face a spell in the Husband Day Care Centre!

The Town Hall

A stunning floor for dancing and a full blown stage with proper theatrical back drops.

The Tourist Information Centre, based in the Town Hall building was the starting point of daily walking tours commencing at 09:00. A guide meets you there and conducts a free guided walk of the historic precinct. Our guide was slightly less fancifully dressed than the one below. Incredibly knowledgeable, he held our attention for 1.5 hours.

Various historic buildings from the golden era (literally - Gold was exported from here)
The Post Office is opposite the Post Office Hotel of course!

One of several cast bronze figures and objects around the main streets

Stylized City Crest
 Military mementos

 The Band Stand

Maryborough boasts many magnificent and original 'Queenslander style' homes.

Blossoms
Beautiful tall Bangalo plams

Surprisingly, despite historically being a town of hard workers occupied in metal fabrication, shipbuilding and carriage makeing, it did not seem that sausage rolls were anything of a dietary priority. Alas, he Bloke would need to satisfy his feasting with the visual kind.
