Fishermen Friends

It's a known fact that mariners are compelled to help one another out when things go pear shaped on the water. When the Bloke spotted one of the crayboats that moors adjacent to us under tow, he knew something had gone horribly wrong.

The Tiki II being towed in

The Discovery Bay had to overshoot the jetty to get Tiki II as close to the jetty as possible.

The crew throw a little grapple hook with a mooring line towards the jetty

Darn it! didn't quite make it. Its been a long day!

Take 2....Let's have another go... Doh!

3rd time lucky!

And finally a little nudge to get the stern in

It was a happy ending in the scheme of things. The solidarity of seafarers was affirmed. Everyone got home safely albeit after using a quantity of diesel for no result and a fright. The bolts had sheared off the prop shaft rendering it a boat without propulsion. And yes, the skipper confirmed it was when they were dropping their pots on a reef among, breakers not far from cliffs. A fishing trawler, The Discovery Bay, saved the day and towed the boys in. Even getting the towing line attached must have been a nightmare. Lucky for everyone, conditions were 'reasonable'.

By the time the boys had got Tiki II tied off, the mechanic had arrived to meet them. Within no time, all was made good and the boys went out again to drop their pots. Mission finally accomplished for the day but this time without the 'excitement'.
