Coincidences

During the week the Marina is very quiet but the week-end brought a bit more movement. Even the chap with the boat in the next pen came down to give his new boat a good pat and a scrub. Our chat revealed that not only did he live close by but he was in fact the upstairs neighbour of our friends Carol and Jeremy. Bearing in mind this is a city of 6million people, our random allocation to this pen in the marina has delivered a remarkable coincidence. Those estimates of 5 degrees of separation are a huge overestimate. Let's try 3!

It's pitch black here by 5:15 pm, so as a rule we are below decks quite early and unaware of boat movements on nearby jetties. Last night a dinner invitation resulted in a short walk after dark and when returning home we observed a masthead light shining in the darkness. It indicated a boat movement. Ooooh look, someone is either coming or going! We were immediately drawn in. As we got closer, the profile of the yacht caught our eye as did a part of the boat name and its unusual placement on the transom near the water line. We knew this yacht. And not only that, the last time we'd seen it was in Tasmania and it was rafted up to ours!

Here is Garry on Pierrette on the Franklin River in January.

We had learned, only a little earlier in the day, that Garry and Milenna were sailing a boat across Bass Strait and must have succeeded in selling Pierrette to enable the purchase of a bigger cruising yacht. Their new boat is a 46 footer so we now have monster 'foot' envy! We certainly didn't expect to see the newly sold Pierrette in Gunnamatta Bay inside 24 hours of this new knowledge, refueling in the dark and on a nearby jetty!

Seeing is believing!
A happy new owner with a couple of pals assisting with the delivery
to a new home in Port Macquarie.

Was the skipper shocked that a couple of random people emerging from the darkness in a strange place, came and told him all about his new pride and joy? You better believe it!
