Our time at a Hole In the Wall ended with the prediction of winds coming from the North and then West. No problem though, we really did want to have a bit of a look around this big, wide bay and there are other options. We set our sights on Callala Beach in the NE section of the bay and it should help avoid some nasty fetch that would likely whip up and give a bucking ride at the Hole in The Wall. By the look of it, even the locals move their boats from one side of the bay to the other on a routine and needs basis. They hadn't brought their boats back after the Saturday morning collection. It's a sure indication that it would be wise to move!
We set off in a lovely 15 knot breeze for a nice reach across the bay. En route we did a bog lap around the
Rainbow Warrior. It had been anchored in the middle of the bay for the preceding 4 days. We'd seen it from afar, particularly at night as the masts are lit up with red LED's. For the time being, it seems they are not busy with Japanese Whalers nor intercepting Patagonian Toothfish poachers in the far Southern Ocean. We'd last seen Rainbow Warrior in Hobart ahead of their last campaign to protect that fish species.
The Bloke knew I'd be curious and obliged me with a good look.
The Greenpeace's Rainbow Warrior.
SMILE AND WAIVE BOYS ... JUST SMILE AND WAIVE
We are sure that someone must have known that we were right 'there' but no friendly waives.
They must have been having some R and R because these rebel campaigners had a hammock rigged up on the deck in case the sun ever came out again. So now we know what environmental activists do on their days off.
