Leg 54 - Sights set on Sydney Harbour

So near, yet so far. We had to wait for fierce weather to pass to enable us to hop up the coast and into Sydney Harbour.  Early estimates were Friday, which became Saturday and then became Sunday. We looked like taking 4 passengers to begin with but weekend commitments caused withdrawals resulting in just one. In any instance it was a thrill to get to this iconic location and so much more so with a 'local' and one of our earliest sailing mentors - Martin.

Boys in uniform.

Goodbye to the Bundeena Ferry.

Some homes in Gunnamatta Bay have more facilities than normal.

We'd waited for the swell to drop. It had, but not completely, and then the wind was not really enough from any reasonable direction. Much of the trip was achieved under motor. A SOG of only 3knots wouldn't get us through Sydney Heads during daylight! So we pressed on.

Dead set views to eternity.
The Waverley Cemetery.

Mind your step on a dark night!

South Head

North Head.
Yes, it is! Just looks like a dozen other headlands but really, this is it.

The jewel lies ahead.

A couple of sailing 'numpties' signing-off on this leg with a kiss.
Do you like the placement of the Sydney Harbour Bridge?
So clever Martin, thanks for the shot!
