Whalers Cove, Maria Island. A Fine day in a fine anchorage.

So let's start at the beginning. A lovely sunrise and the moon hadn't even set yet!

Our Eagle was up for some breakfast. Looking, looking, looking.

We dropped the dinghy down for some looking of our own.

It wasn't until we had motored past, that we noticed that one of the boulders next to us was hollow.

These rocks formed part of a small nose of rock with creeks running into the water on either side.
We were anchored in the cove created by one of the creeks. The Cruising Guides indicate that there is evidence of Whalers activity on shore. Hence the name. We were joined for the night by a professional fishing vessel. Must be a good spot!

A bush fire has clearly gone through in recent years.
The water was crystal clear and beyond this rocky shelf it was suddenly quite deep and sandy.

The sun reflecting off a cliff.

Weirdly, the rock suddenly became sedimentary like this on the adjacent cliff.

We liked it here very much but knew that it was only going to be our home during northerlies. Off to the opposite side of the bay tomorrow!
