The Best Man for Midnight Blue

That sailing friend Ian Collett, passed away in March affected us deeply. We decided that we'd visit his now widow, Tina. All we had to do was break our flights back from visiting our families in Perth with a couple of days in Adelaide. Easy peasy.

Since boats are not meant for the harbour and Tina is now an Admiral without a Captain, Tina and Ian's beautiful cruising catamaran, Midnight Blue was put on the market.  The sale was an emotional roller coaster. This vessel was the holder of treasured memories and planned futures excursions. There was some genuine buyer interest including an offer from the previous owner. All was looking sunny until he had a 'heart event' in the euphoria of attempting the purchase and the deal fell over.

Russell and Tina exchanging paperwork.

Just as Tina was resigning herself to an extended marketing period through winter, she received a phone call from Ian's Best Man at their wedding, checking if Midnight Blue was still available. The rest as they say is 'history' but you couldn't make that sort of thing up. It's just such a wonderful outcome and we just happened to be there when the exchange of Skippers took place. He's handed Ian a wedding ring and now a life ring to Tina!

Bubbles and Coffin Bay Oysters to mark the occasion.

A very pleased looking Skipper!

Plenty of emotion on hand to throw the lines.

Fair winds Katrina and 'Best Man' Russell!
